Chapter 1

I thought this was a very interesting chapter that outlined the book's position very well, if a bit repetitively. The authors take the position that mass collaboration is a good thing even though, a little later in the chapter, they acknowledge that it can also be dangerous. I think that it is incredibily important to note that while great things can come from mass collaboration, horrible things, such as terrorist attacks, can happen too. One very interesting thing that I did not know about before was the FightAIDS collaboration effort; I think it is wonderful that while not everyone can contribute scientifically or monaterily, all one has to do is donate bandwidth that they don't use anyway.

I think it will be interesting to see how this book unfolds and how well the authors maintain ojectivity. They are obviously all for mass collaboration and I think I will be looking to see if and how they continue to acknowledge the drawbacks and dangers. I am also looking forward to the continued incorporation of business scenarios that show either how companies have already implemented mass collaboration, how they have failed, or how companies can use this movement to succeed in the future.
